On the political front, our clip library contains unique footage of Angela Davis, Paul Robeson speaking in Trafalgar Square, and again as part of the cortege marching down Golders Green High Road before the funeral of Harry Pollitt, Secretary of the British Communist Party in the 1950’s. Other footage shows Robeson attending a Henry Wallace election rally dating back to the 1950’s.
Footage also includes an interview with James Baldwin in Paris. We have rare footage of the reaction by the Black community to the tragic fire in New Cross, London in the 1980’s, as well as Black demonstrators fighting with the police. On the cultural side, we have footage of the famous concert at Wembley Pool in 1970 which featured Desmond Dekker, Milly and other notable reggae artists of the era. Film clips of Black musicians include such renowned names as Louis Armstrong, Chuck Berry and Odetta.
